During 2019 we started looking for a bigger boat as our crew was growing. We settled on another Swedish built boat, a Najad 440 from 1988. It is a fiberglass boat, cutter rigged with a centercockpit, new engine (2019) and two cabins and heads. We are very happy with our new home and vessel!
Ran II was built in the Najad shipyard in Henån on the west coast of Sweden. This is a region where many other Swedish quality boats originates from like Hallberg-Rassy, Malö, Regina and Sweden Yachts. Ran II is hull nr. 6 of the 440 model.
The name RAN (the a is pronounced as in “Martin”) comes from the goddess of the deep ocean, Rán, in the nordic mythology. She captured drowning seamen with her big net and kept them on the bottom of the ocean.
